I have done heaps of painted shoes for the younger members of the family but not for us adults. So while sitting with my sister we were talking about how cool it would be to paint ourselves some. So I started off on the shoe buying challenge. Well it wasn’t really a challenge, shoe shopping is second nature to us.
I found these Grosby’s on special for $10. I know, $10 for these cute little wedges. There was only red but we could work with that, so I got two pair.
So a quick text to my sister “What do you want painted on these”
Her reply was “WONDER WOMAN”
No complaints from me as she is the best super hero by far.
The toes got tipped with blue and the Wonder Woman symbol to the sides.
With the wedge heel getting a blue base with white stars.
I loved them so much I did myself a pair but in flats.
Now to look for ideas for the second pair of wedges.
A while ago my Little Miss had a Super Hero dress up day at Day Care. I was trying to think of a girl super hero of recent times and for the life of me I couldn’t. I am sure there is one but with one night to have an outfit ready, time wasn’t on my side. So the next best thing was to go with my favourite girl super hero,Wonder Woman.
This idea was really easy to do as my coffee cups in the house are Wonder Woman, so with a coffee cup in hand I start to create. The skirt was first with some blue tulle and gluing some white felt star on. Some more felt for the head and arm bands, we dug out a cape from the dress up box and it was all coming together nicely. With one of Ed’s old red shirts I painted the wonder woman symbol on and lastly the shoes…
This is what I enjoyed doing the most, the shoes. After finishing late in to the night I gave them a spray with a clear canvas varnish the next morning and she was all ready to go.
I like them so much I am thinking of making myself a pair.
It is a fact that my daughter has a large amount of shoes. So there was no surprise that for her birthday I would get her some new ones. With her birthday theme of Peppa Pig this year I set about painting her a pair of shoes as I was unable to find any shoes with Peppa on them.
Ed’s loved her shoes and after a while gave up watching her feet and pointing out Peppa or George with each step she took. Yes there were some injuries with this.
After seeing his sisters shoes and declaring that they turned out pretty good(a big complement from my son), Jack had decided he wanted a pair. Jack is a little Minecrafted mad so it was not surprise that that was the theme he wanted.
By now I was feeling pretty confident that they were turning out OK as my son is a straight talker and readily tells me “ that doesn’t look that good Mum” and these seem to have passed the test.
My nephew’s birthday was coming up so I challenged myself to try a pair of Adventure time for him. Now the biggest challenge was working out who the characters were.
I will now admit that the show is the weirdest thing every and I am still unable to get any of the names straight.
Thinking this was it as all the kids now had a pair I was surprised when handed a pair of shoes from my niece asking for a painted pair also. Looks like teenagers would wear them also.
So from ones side it looks like she is a Elmo fan and from the other side a Cookie Monster fan.
